The high-pass filter gradually cuts the lower frequencies of the sound as the Fonofone filter bar is moved up and to the right. The sound is gradually becoming thinner, letting only a stream of high-pitched values pass through.

The filter is an excellent tool to get the student to perceive the “colour” (the timbre) sounds.
